About James Ellerby

In 2019 I started photography - when I was just 11 - since then my skills have grown exponentially, and I have taken some fantastic photos over the years.
I have also gotten into videography and I am perfecting my editing and filming skills while in college as I am studying towards an extended diploma in creative media production.
During college I have also been taught how to use Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Lightroom & Blender.

Project One - Content Creation

This was the first project I did in college, and this is the project that taught me all of the important skills and practial research which I will be carrying forwards in this course.
Below are the videos I captured and edited for this project.

Chocolate Advert

In the brief I was told to construct a chocolate brand from scratch and make a chocolate advert with that brand. I went with a dark chocolate company called "Faba Pura". I used many different methods to make the advert such as the CGI door and the chocolate in a bowl were all made by myself using 3D modelling
In post production I used various software; such as.
- Premiere Pro
- After Effects
- Blender

BCA Promo Video 1

The task we were given for this video was to plan, record and edit a video highlighting key areas of the college and to get new people to join.
I used a mix of shots and used both Premiere Pro and After Effects to edit this video. I also used Google Earth Studio to make the first scene of the zoom in from space.

BCA Promo Video 2

The brief for this video was to make another promotional video
however using different techniques and different styles.
In this video I edited it using After Effects and Premiere Pro.

BCA Promotional Video 3

In this video we had to record and edit a promotional video for our college, however, we had a challenge. We did not plan the video ourselves, another group planned it and we had to use their drawings and words to record the video.

Project Two - Podcasts

In this project, our aim was to research, create and edit our own podcast. This episode was then put on Spotify so anyone can listen to it.
In my group, we brainstormed some ideas for names & logos and in the end we went with "Innovation Hour". Our logo took inspiration from electrical circuits and I was very proud of it.
Our episode was around the theme of technology news, this was recorded December of 2025 so lots of the information is out of date. You can listen to it below.

Project Three - TV shows

This was one of the most creative projects I've done, we were given the ability to fully film and edit whatever we wanted - although did have to be either a comedy, thriller or reality TV show. My team came to the conclusion we wanted to make a thriller, so I came up with the idea of a bank heist plot with multiple episodes.

I was the producer, lead writer and editor for this show. Myself and the director had a base idea for the scenes so we wrote them down and then everyone in the group made a storyboard & a script for the scene. As I was the lead script writer I then made sure everything flowed how it should.
For the post production in this project I used Premiere Pro & After Effects.
Overall this was the best project I've done as I have been able to display my editing, producing and preproduction skils.
